Boat building and boat owners services offered by the Kuhnle Shipyard (Werft)

When the Kuhnle shipyard was founded its objectives were simple, build good quality charter boats for the Mecklenburg Lake District. Charterboats are used far in excess of your traditional “owner boat” this meant that our boats had to be designed and built with longevity and quality in mind. In addition our shipyard has internal customers (our own charter company) and they are not only very demanding but they provide great feedback on how we are doing – one of the great advantages of having a group shipyard. When our boats leave our shipyard, they are rigorously inspected to ensure that all services and features are installed appropriately and to a good finish.

The result was that Kuhnle shipyard  became known for being expert in the construction and delivery of charter boats and boats that are especially suitable for waterways and lakes, this has resulted in more and more skippers coming to our Müritz shipyard with their boats and yachts not only for repairs and refits but also for adding new features and innovations.

Our workflow was such that in 1999 we employed the renowned Fraunhofer-Institute of technical production and automation to automate and improve our shipyard processes. This resulted in us separating our new construction and refit operations enabling us to maximise our employee skills and abilities whilst increasing quality control and throughput.
